We take care to respect each patient’s unique anatomy and needs to maximize the benefits while minimizing any adverse effects. Our goal is to achieve the most natural results, aiming to achieve a “refreshed” rather than “overdone” appearance.

Morpheus 8

Morpheus8 is a new subdermal adipose remodeling device (SARD) that fractionally remodels and contours the face and body. Penetrating deep into the skin and fat, this morphs the aging face of body into a more desired smooth and sleek appearance, for all skin tones. Morpheus8 has the ability to penetrate deeper into the skin than any other microneedling device, going as deep as 4mm. Patient comfort is a major advantage of this device because of the sharper needles and tiny punctures it causes in the skin without tugging or pulling. M8 can be used for, but is not limited to treating wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks surgical scars and more.

FAQs

WHAT IS MORPHEUS8?
MORPHEUS8 is a fractional skin treatment that stimulates collagen production of the underlying layers of the dermis. By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, the building blocks will reorganize themselves in a natural anti-aging process.

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
Morpheus8 can be used on any areas that can benefit from sub-dermal renewal. The most commonly treated areas include the lower face and neck. Areas of the face and body that exhibit wrinkles, discoloration or acne scarring are suitable for treatment.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Depending on your Morpheus8 treatment regime you can expect to have between 1-3 sessions.

HOW QUICKLY WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Visible results can be seen within a few days, but typically after three weeks the most noticeable results appear. Improvements continue up to three months after treatment.

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF FRACTIONATED ENERGY?
Fractionated RF energy is a scientifically proven method to reduce wrinkles and rebuild collagen and fat. It is minimally invasive, using a matrix of micro pins to renew deeper layers of the skin with almost no patient downtime.

CAN ANYONE USE MORPHEUS8?
The benefit of Morpheus8’s color blind technology is that it can be used on all skin types. The unique properties allow even darker tones to be treated.

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF RF ENERGY?
RF energy heats the deep layers of the skin in a controlled way to revitalize the collagen. The treatment will improve skin complexion and texture for a more radiant and youthful appearance.

CAN THIS BE USED IN COMBINATION WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?
Yes, Morpheus8 can be used in the same treatment session, or a few days after other treatments.

WHEN CAN I PUT MAKE-UP ON AFTER TREATMENT?
Since patient downtime is minimal, makeup can be applied 1 to 2 days after the treatment. Patients should expect to see micro lesions a few days after treatment and slight redness for up to 1 week depending on treatment parameters.

WHAT KIND OF POST PROCEDURE CARE IS REQUIRED?
Patients should moisturize the treatment area and avoid direct sun exposure. It is also recommended that patients use a good, broad spectrum sunscreen every day. In addition to reducing their future risk of skin cancer, sunscreens also reduce wrinkles and slow the aging process.

Before and After

Aerolase Neo

The Aerolase Neo is an aesthetic medical laser that provides a premium patient experience unrivaled in dermatology and aesthetics. Uniquely gentle, the Neo offers complete skin rejuvenation in a safe, effective, and tolerable treatment for all skin types and tones. The Neo’s unique 650-microsecond technology is attracted to a combination of melanin, hemoglobin, and water in the skin tissue – which contribute to your skin’s signs of aging. The Neo’s energy passes through the skin to selectively heat these targets without adverse effects – resulting in clear, healthy skin. Its 650 Microsecond Technology™ eliminates discomfort during treatment and provides safe, highly efficacious results for even the darkest skin tones.

NeoClear by Aerolase® Acne Treatment

NeoClear by Aerolase offers patients of all ages and skin types a new safe, effective, and tolerable treatment for acne using advanced 650-microsecond technology. NeoClear is a powerful acne treatment that eliminates the major factors causing acne including excess sebum production, inflammation, and the p. acnes bacteria. Typically, many different treatments, medications, or skin care options are required to address these factors, but NeoClear can achieve this with a single device. The unique settings of the 650 Microsecond Technology™ allows energy to penetrate deeply into the skin within a highly safe and tolerable pulse to reduce sebum production, suppress inflammation, and destroy the p. acnes bacteria to help clear current acne breakouts and to stop them in the future. Also, the deep heating energy helps build collagen, which can reduce the appearance of acne scars and leave skin looking radiant.

NeoClear is a special treatment as there are no side effects, is very comfortable for patients, and the results can be seen quickly – in as little as a single treatment. NeoClear is an excellent option for patients that do not want to take prescription medications or are unable to. Plus, with increasing prescription costs, NeoClear is an excellent, cost-effective solution for patients’ acne problems.

NeoClear treatments typically take between 10-30 minutes depending on the severity of acne and the size of the area affected (face, neck, chest, torso). NeoClear is highly safe, effective, and tolerable for all skin types, all ages, and all types of acne. Treatment may be performed without any skin cooling, anesthetic, and even without the need to touch the skin.

NeoSkin by Aerolase™ Comprehensive Skin Rejuvenation

NeoSkin by Aerolase™ Melasma and Hyperpigmentation

NeoSkin by Aerolase allows patients of all skin types to comprehensively clear their melasma and hyperpigmentation. As a multi-factorial condition that can involve epidermal melanin, dermal melanin, and a vascular component, melasma typically requires a complex treatment regimen to achieve clearance and prevent recurrence. The Aerolase Neo helps patients to achieve clearance with a safe, effective, and tolerable treatment by addressing each of these factors. The Neo’s 650 Microsecond laser energy is delivered into the dermis and epidermis to break up melanin deposits while shutting down vasculature and inflammation. Due to the unique parameters of the Neo’s energy, treatment is highly tolerable with minimal risk of adverse effects compared to traditional topical or device treatments for melasma.

Management of melasma can be challenging and, with topical agents, may require long-term treatment. The Neo, however, can help patients achieve clearance with fewer treatments. For patients who want an accelerated clearance of their condition, the Neo can be combined with a peel in a single treatment session. First, the Neo helps to break up epidermal and dermal pigment. Then, the peel may be applied to speed up the cellular turnover of the epidermis. While the Neo may be used alone as a single treatment, the combination of these two treatments offers patients a great “one-two punch” to clear their condition.

Aerolase Neo melasma treatments typically take 15-20 minutes. Neo melasma treatments are safe, effective, and tolerable for all skin types and all forms of melasma. Treatment may be performed without any skin cooling, anesthetic, and even without the need to touch the skin.

NeoSkin by Aerolase™ Rejuvenation and Tightening

NeoSkin by Aerolase takes skin rejuvenation and tightening to new levels by enabling a comprehensive treatment to address tone and texture, redness, pigmentation, laxity, and other skin concerns in a single treatment with a single device. NeoSkin uses 650 Microsecond Technology™ to safely, effectively, and tolerably renew the skin’s natural, youthful glow. It offers patients of all ages and skin types comprehensive results that would previously take multiple devices or therapies to achieve.

As skin ages, changes can occur. Skin quality can worsen with enlarged pores, texture, and lax skin. Unwanted conditions such as redness, veins, sun damage, and age spots can appear. Acne and acne scarring can follow through adulthood. Whether you are looking to restore your clear, youthful skin or prevent signs of aging, NeoSkin can help achieve your skin goals. First, NeoSkin’s 650 Microsecond energy targets water in the dermis to stimulate collagen production, which reduces fine lines, pores, and tightens skin. Then, if present, NeoSkin targets melanin and hemoglobin to clear brown pigment, clear vascular lesions, and suppress inflammation. This NeoSkin treatment is a quick, tailored treatment to address each patient’s specific needs.

NeoSkin treatments typically take 20-60 minutes depending on what conditions need to be addressed and how large the treatment area is (face, neck, chest). Treatment is highly safe, effective, and tolerable for all skin types and may be performed without any skin cooling, anesthetic, and even without the need to touch the skin.

NeoSkin by Aerolase™ Rosacea, Redness, and Veins

NeoSkin comprehensively addresses rosacea, redness, veins, and broken capillaries in a single, 20-25 minute treatment session. A common condition with skin aging is the appearance of redness and formation of veins and broken capillaries in the skin. Rosacea is a chronic disorder that is characterized by facial flushing and with time the gradual development of persistent facial redness and spider-like blood vessels. It is often punctuated by episodes of inflammatory papules (bumps), pustules (pimples), and swelling. Management for many people often includes avoidance of popular foods and alcohol as well as cosmetic camouflage, which can be expensive and time-consuming. Other diffuse redness including poikiloderma of civatte may be attributed by other factors such as exposure to UV rays and lifestyle, which can also be addressed by the NeoSkin treatment. The Aerolase Neo effectively addresses these conditions with deep-penetrating energy that suppresses the inflammation causing the redness. It also coagulates the unwanted veins and broken capillaries, which are then gradually cleared by the body’s natural immune response.

FAQs

How do I schedule this laser?

  • Schedule a consultation with one of our providers to see if this laser is appropriate for you.
  • A dedicated laser visit will be scheduled with Dr. Chung or Dr. Patrone.
  • This laser is not scheduled during the summer months June-Sept due to sun exposure which cause increased risk of burn from the laser and post-treatment hyperpigmentation (darkening of the treated areas).

How do I prepare?

  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure or tanning at least 6 weeks prior to the procedure. If your skin is tanner than usual, it can increase the risk of a burn from the laser.
  • Come to your appointment with a clean face: no makeup or lotion.
  • Avoid wearing jewelry – the laser can reflect off shiny surfaces.
  • Schedule during a week where you don’t have special events or planned sun exposure such as a wedding, birthday dinner, sunny vacation or outdoor soccer game.

What can I expect during my visit?

  • Eye protection will be applied. Dr. Chung or Dr. Patrone will treat each brown spot with the laser, customizing the settings to your skin type and lesion size, thickness, and pigment density. The laser will feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin each time it pulses.
  • The procedure takes about 10-15 minutes. Most patients do not require topical numbing, but you can request numbing in advance, which takes 15-20 minutes.
  • After your treatment, we will apply Aquaphor or Vaseline to the treated areas, which will be temporarily red like chicken pox.

What is the healing time?

  • The first day all the treated spots may appear red, swollen, and slightly scabby, like chicken pox. The redness will subside in 1-2 days and thin dark scabs will form on the treated spots. The scabs will flake off in 5-10 days.
  • Most of the treated spots will disappear. Some may appear pink for up to several week. Stubborn spots may still have some pigment remaining and will require another treatment.

How should I care for my skin following the procedure?

  • Wash twice a daily with a gentle fragrance-free facial cleanser just using your hands (no washcloth or cleansing brush). Avoid any cleanser with exfoliating ingredients. Do not scrub the skin. Pat dry gently without rubbing.
  • Next, apply a thin layer of Aquaphor or petroleum jelly to all the treated spots.
  • If desired, a sparing amount of concealer or makeup can be applied after day 3.
  • Apply a mineral-based sunscreen every day.
  • Avoid sun exposure, especially in the first few weeks after your laser, due to risk of increased pigmentation in the treated areas. Moving forward, continue to always protect your skin from the sun to prevent new brown spots from forming.

How many treatments will I need?

  • Depending on the number of spots and pigment density of each spot, patients will need an average of 1-3 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

What are the risks or potential adverse effects of this laser?

  • There is a risk of burning the skin or causing increased hyperpigmentation to the treated areas if proper settings are not used. If proper eye protection is not used, there is a risk of the laser adversely affecting your vision. Therefore, we take every precaution to protect your skin and your eyes. Caring for your skin properly after the procedure is also essential. Lasers are powerful tools that should only be used by licensed clinicians. In our practice, only board-certified dermatologists operate the Q-switched laser. For certain skin types and lesions, we may do a complementary test spot prior to treating the entire face.
KTP Laser

The KTP laser is a 532nm laser that utilizes a potassium titanyl phosphate crystal to treat vascular lesions (blood vessels). It is highly effective for treating “red spots” such as superficial telangiectasias (spider veins) on the face and chest and angiomas (cherry red spots) on the face and body.
